Olga sees Mongo's presence everywhere. Anna Antonovna and Varya unsuccessfully try to distract her from obsessions about her husband. But she goes to the tavern in the hope of finding out from the hostess who handed over the things and money. Varya is going to learn the real story of the baby from the house of Spartacus, she is joined by a filler. Peter understands that the murder of the duke will serve as a pretext for the termination of relations between France and Russia.
