They talk about the impending war, Mongo and his relationship with Olga, and the secret of the child. Varya intends to learn all about its origins. Kuragin and Adam discover that Polina, Napoleon's sister, has seduced Alexander... Spartacus tries to master the consciousness of Xenia and make her a loyal servant, instead of the murdered Charles.
