In 20th century Paris, a farewell reception is being held after the a millionaire who had founded many enterprises. His will says that his eldest son George will succeed the count with the stipulation that he marry a woman of either blue blood or high society within half a year but Georges dreams of marrying and loving forever a woman destined to cross his path. He feels oppressed by the idea of getting married merely to fulfill his father's will. His friend tells George to go easy, advising him that marriage is one thing and love another.
