Episode synopsis
PING requests TSUN to dismiss SAU after the food-poisoning incident. But everyone at Chun Fung tries to intercede for SAU, which irks PING no end. SAU discovers that it was PING who contaminated the Shanghai steamed buns. PING admits her guilt, but claims that she was doing it for YAN’s sake. TSUN has bought SAU an apron, for which SAU is so grateful. KIN and PING have a terrible quarrel over SAU. PING is so angry that she decides to burn SAU’s apron up. To help SHING secure a position in the Works Bureau, CHI has arranged for a hetman to shoot SHING on the Community Visit Day. Being unaware of the danger lying in wait, KAU asks WAH to act as the Master of Ceremonies. KAU has shielded SHING from a gunshot by chance when the assassination takes place. CHI tries to relate the incident to CHAN YUEN-FONG, thus drawing massive public support for SHING.… ...

The story takes place in the 1930s. NIP CHUN (MIU KIU WAI), one of the most influential gang leaders in Shanghai for the past twenty years, decides to step down after the sudden death of his wife. He earns his living by selling Shanghai steamed buns, and to make it up to HO SHUI-SAU (HEUNG HOI LAN, ANNE), he hires the lady as his helper. His withdrawal from gang activities has deeply disappointed SHEK SAI-KAU (WONG CHUNG CHAK, BOSCO), who is an ardent follower of him. CHUN was determined not to get involved with any criminal activities. But when he finds out that WU TAI-TSUEN, a buddy from his gang, may have something to do with his wife’s death, and when he sees how his former gang mates are mysteriously killed one by one...
