Episode synopsis
"Yogi De Beargerac" is an episode from The New Yogi Bear Show (1988). In this episode, Yogi Bear takes on the role of a love expert after Boo Boo develops a crush on a visiting female bear but is too shy to talk to her. Inspired by the story of Cyrano de Bergerac, Yogi decides to coach Boo Boo, feeding him romantic lines from behind the scenes. However, Yogi being Yogi, he can’t resist inserting himself into the situation, either by accidentally taking credit for Boo Boo’s words or trying to charm the lady bear himself. Chaos ensues as Ranger Smith gets suspicious of Yogi’s behavior, and Boo Boo realizes Yogi might not be the best wingman after all.
About The New Yogi Bear Show
The New Yogi Bear Show is a 30-minute weekday animated series which aired on syndication in 1988 as part of The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera's 4th season. But it was the also the fifth incarnation of Hanna-Barbera's Yogi Bear. It contained 45 new episodes combined with reruns of the original 1960s Yogi series. Pared down from some of the other, recent incarnations of the adventures of Yogi and friends, this series featured only Yogi, Boo-Boo, Cindy and Ranger Smith, with episodes set in Jellystone Park. The show also introduced four new characters: Ranger Roubideux, Ninja Raccoon, Ninja Raccoon's mom, and Blubber Bear from Wacky Races.
