The show revolves around Emily, a Western daughter-in-law married to Aarav, and Anandibaa, a matriarch and social leader, who is initially not receptive to the reality of her son's marriage. Living in Gondal, Aarav has had dreams of moving to America, whereas Emily has had wishes of settling in India.
