When mother-of-two Patricia Hall disappears from a small Yorkshire town, her family make desperate appeals for her safe return. Police launch a major search operation but find nothing. As the hunt continues, her husband Keith becomes the prime suspect. But there is no evidence tying him to any crime. Then a mysterious woman appears, who may offer the key to finding out the truth.

When Patricia Hall vanishes from the small Yorkshire town of Pudsey, her husband Keith becomes a suspect, caught in a storm of rumour and suspicion. Only after a year, when Keith Hall falls in love with a beautiful stranger, does the terrible truth about his wife's disappearance seem to emerge in a shocking series of twists and revelations.
