One morning, Sulu found herself in distress over the possibility of eviction from the owner's house, along with Thambi, due to their failure to pay rent that was three months overdue. She approaches Thankam to ask if Kanakan could intervene in this situation and help prevent their eviction. In addition, Sulu mentions that the new tenant is a member of the police department.
