The 1st International Competition for Young Performers "New Wave" took place from July 31 to August 4, 2002, in Dzintari, Jurmala. Held for the first time, the competition was founded by Raimonds Pauls and Igor Krutoy. Officially, 15 participants from 10 countries participated.
About New Wave
New Wave is an international contest for young performers of popular music founded in 2002 by the Russian composer Igor Krutoy and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls, and was later enhanced by the Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva.
