Episode synopsis

The Hojo clan is caught in a bind in their territory Musashi, as the strategic point Kawagoe Castle is put under siege by the army of Norimasa Uesugi. Kansuke goes to the castle, leading troops to help the Hojo clan, with another purpose in his mind—to persuade Yukitaka Sanada, who presently serves under the Uesugi clan, to be a retainer of the Takeda clan. Kansuke disguises himself and sneaks into Uesugi’s headquarters. Hearing from Kansuke that Uesugi’s troops are unvigilant and off guard, Ujiyasu Hojo decides to make a night assault against them.

About Samurai Banners

Fūrin Kazan was the 46th NHK Taiga drama beginning on January 7, 2007. It was aired throughout 2007. The four characters from left to right are wind, woods, fire, and mountain. The title is a reference to the war banner used by Takeda Shingen, which in turn was taken from Sun Tzu's The Art of War. It means "Swift as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Fierce as Fire and Immovable as a Mountain."
