After hearing an old woman's prediction that thick fog will descend in Kawanakajima the following morning, Kansuke decides that the time has come for him to make the move. Kansuke divides Takeda's troops into two forces―8,000 main forces led by Shingen to wait at the mountain foot and the other 12,000 forces to attack Uesugi's troops on the mountain from the rear. However, the attempt to trap the enemy had been foreseen.
About Samurai Banners
Fūrin Kazan was the 46th NHK Taiga drama beginning on January 7, 2007. It was aired throughout 2007. The four characters from left to right are wind, woods, fire, and mountain. The title is a reference to the war banner used by Takeda Shingen, which in turn was taken from Sun Tzu's The Art of War. It means "Swift as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Fierce as Fire and Immovable as a Mountain."
