Episode synopsis
CHEUNG CHUN moves to Grand Scribe Mansion. When he is studying hard, he suddenly vomits blood and others suspect that he is suffering from hemoptysis. Trying not infect others, CHEUNG CHUN moves to the haunted waterfront cottage. MAU-TAN scolds CHEUNG CHUN privately for being ignorant of the present state of affairs and KAU TSIN-SHUI overhears it accidentally. During a party at Grand Scribe Mansion, many rich men in town arrive to meet MAU-TAN. In order to catch MAU-TAN's attention, SHING-MAN gives her the book "Erotic Stories". MAU-TAN reveals to her father that she wants to marry an outstanding man like FUNG-SAM so that their family will become more powerful. Unfortunately, her father has agreed to marry her to CHEUNG CHUN according to his promise. CHEUNG CHUN falls asleep while studying and a ghost suddenly wakes him up. The Carp disguises herself as MAU-TAN to help CHEUNG CHUN. CHEUNG CHUN eventually learns that he is poisoned……
About Under the Veil
The drama is told in three separate folklore stories about love, lust, vanity, greed and selfishness. {Changing Pins} - Male and female fraternal twins fall in love with different men with the same appearance. The older male twin has an homosexual affair with a Prince of the Liao Kingdom, while the female twin falls in love with a poor scholar. {Judge Lu} - A poor scholar has an affair with a courtesan that resembles his wife. {Chasing Fish} - A scholar becomes the object of affection to a fish spirit and human girl with the face.
