Dee had her first major role in Wes Craven's 1977 classic The Hills Have Eyes (1977), which lead to her starring performance in Joe Dante's werewolf masterpiece The Howling (1981) and then would eventually find major mainstream fame and acclaim starring as the mom in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi family hit E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). Since then, Dee has worked for greats like Peter Jackson and Rob Zombie, has appeared at least once in almost every TV series of the past 50 years and has also established a second career as a self-help guru.

But it was when she locked a leading role as tough-as-nails "ghostbeating" warrior Kelly Maxwell in Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi's cult horror show Ash vs Evil Dead (2015) that her pop culture legacy was firmly cemented. Dana reprised her role as Kelly in the Evil Dead: The Game (2022) and has since gone on to appear in shows like Will & Grace (1998), Tacoma FD (2019) and many more.
