A French couple, Philippe Meniere and Agnes Jardel, went to live on a farm near Sutherland. In January 2011, a shooting broke out: a student constable died, a warrant officer was wounded and the couple disappeared without a trace.
11. Olivia Sieff

In January 2022, 18-year-old Olivia Sieff was killed when she and two friends were crossing the road in front of a pub in Claremont, Cape Town, and she was hit. Sieff died instantly and the driver fled the scene.

During a strike in February 2022, Clover hired a private security company to provide additional security. When strikers pelted security guards with stones and overpowered them, Terence Tegg lost his life and JJ Cassanga was injured, but later died from his injuries.

In January 2021, Dr. Erna van Zyl and her husband, Dries, were attacked in their home in Pretoria in the early hours of the morning. Dr. Van Zyl was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband died a few months later from the injuries he sustained.
