About this season
Operation Ouch! is a British children's educational television series about the human body. It shows what happens in A&E, what doctors sometimes have problems with and great experiments. The show is hosted by twin brothers Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken. Series 5 was named "Operation Ouch! Hospital Takeover".

1. Virus Alert!

Dr Chris, Dr Xand and Dr Ronx explore the science behind the current Coronavirus pandemic, answering all your questions along the way about why the outbreak occurred, what the virus does to your body, and how patients are being treated. While Dr Xand has been unwell at home with Coronavirus symptoms, Dr Ronx tells us how her emergency department have been caring for patients. Meanwhile, Dr Chris finds out about the latest advancements with a vaccine, and an exciting medical collaboration with Formula One to create ventilators for hospitals. And Mini Xand is joined by Mini Chris and Mini Ronx to give you some top entertainment tips for staying at home.

A giant crane experiment, a brilliant body and some massive snotting in this episode! The doctors reveal the incredible discs that protect your spine and Dr Chris goes for a row. We meet the personal courage Ouch Awards nominees, plus there’s a cut knee and head in the Emergency Department.

The doctors attempt an experiment of superhero proportions to show why your ribcage is the perfect design. Ouch Patient Indie tells us about life with congenital glaucoma, and Dr Xand finds out how 3D printing is helping surgeons perform tricky operations. Meanwhile, in the emergency department, one patient has a rock in their ear and another has swallowed a coin!

The Doctors take a dip in a jelly pool to show how the cells in your body work! We find out how to deal with a head injury in First Aid, and discover why babies need more sleep than Dr Xand in Ouch Baby! In the Emergency Department, one patient has a badly broken toe, while another has a fractured arm.

There’s a gooey green mess in the lab as the Doctors explain how bile digests fat, and there’s a serious case of snotting in Ouchology! Dr Chris finds out how scientists are making a new vaccine to help the Covid-19 pandemic, and there is a broken wrist and dislocated shoulder in the emergency department.

The Doctors reveal how to train your brain as two families compete in a memory challenge. Dr Xand investigates the differences between human and animal babies as we meet a very special elephant calf, and say hello to Ouch Patient Evie, who has a blood disease called aplastic anaemia. In the emergency department, one patient has cut their leg on glass, and another has broken their wrist.
